Well that is the end of the base building phase of my training. I think you can tell from the picture above how this final week went.
Just a quick post to update on week 7 of the base building plan. It wasn’t the best week. Given the weather and the shifts at work I wasn’t able to get out at the beginning of the week. Then at the backend of the week I was first travelling down to my parents andContinue reading “2020 Base Building Week 7”
This week was much better in terms of consistency. Also the weather this week by and large has been much more conducive to consistency. For the first run of the week I finally managed to get myself out of bed for an early morning pre work run. 25 minutes easy pace to start and finish,Continue reading “2020 Base Building Week 6”
As with week 4, this weeks schedule required some fairly major moving things around because of the weather. Next week looks as though it may require the same, we appear to be experiencing a significant period of stormy weather. Given the forecast for snow and ice, along with the gale force winds at the beginningContinue reading “2020 Base Building Week 5”
This week was a bit of a disaster in terms of planning and execution. The plan was blown a bit to pieces by my work schedule and then completely imploded by the weather with Storm Ciara rolling in at the end of the week.
Week 3 of the base building plan saw a bit of an increase in the duration of the runs. The plan for week 3 had two 50 minute runs at easy pace, one 80 minute run at easy pace and a long run of 100 minutes. This week did not exactly go to plan.
Week 2 of this base building block was the same as week 1 with 3 40 minute easy pace except the long run this week was 1 hour 40 minutes at 9:13-10:32 per mile. Both of the first two runs this week got pushed back a day with life getting in the way.
After a couple of disappointing training blocks last year I decided going into 2020 I needed to build a strong base before I embark on the training blocks for the Great Birmingham 10K and the Great North Run.
